I remember that I met my Opa for the first time in 1946 after the War when we came to Holland from the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia). As soon as they released us out of the camps.
He was a teacher and was still teaching in Den Haag when he was almost 80 years old.
He was very kind to my Mom and Cecile & I, as we were the children of his beloved son,
Nicolaas Franciscus Johanes Diemel who had died during the last days of the war in Asia,
May 1945, in Singapore ... at the young age 43 years.
And for the first time I also met Opa's other two sons,
My Uncle Jan Diemel and my Uncle Hubertus Diemel.
Also I met Cecile Maria Diemel, Opa's Daughter, my Aunt Cecile,
who was a Catholic Nun in a convent in Roosendaal.
We would visit her once a month when permitted,
because it was a very strict Catholic order.
It was good to have Family again.
I was six years old and in a strange new country,
my Fathers country.
Opa was very kind & loving to us ...
